Accommodations and Services

Saint Peter’s University is committed to providing reasonable accommodations and support to ensure eligible students have equitable access to academic programs, housing, and all aspects of university life.

The following is a list of accommodations that students may be approved to receive. These are the accommodations most often requested, but other options may be available.

  • Class materials or textbook in an alternate format
  • Alternate format for instructions
    • Oral and written
    • Repeated, reworded, clarified, or simplified
  • Preferential classroom seating
  • Accessible classroom and in-class furniture
  • Extended time for assignments and tasks
  • Copy of lecture or class notes provided before class

Exam Accommodations

  • Extended time for time-based assessments
  • Use of a calculator

  • Alternative location for testing*

Students who plan to use approved exam accommodations must submit a request through the Simplicity Accommodate student portal for each exam or quiz. This process allows the Office of Disability Services to coordinate testing space and ensure that approved accommodations are in place.

To request an exam accommodation, students should first inform their instructor of their intent to use testing accommodations for the upcoming exam or quiz. Students must then log in to their Accommodate account, select “Testing Room,” and submit a “New Booking Request” for the appropriate course by following the on-screen prompts.

Requests should be submitted at least 10 business days prior to the exam. Submitting requests as early as possible is strongly encouraged, especially if exam dates are known at the beginning of the semester. While students have the right to choose whether or not to use their approved exam accommodations, late requests may limit the availability of preferred testing times or locations.

All exam accommodation requests are reviewed by a staff member in the Office of Disability Services. If you have questions or need assistance with the Accommodate portal or the exam request process, please contact the Office of Disability Services at accommodations@saintpeters.edu or 201-761-7360.
