History students take part in service-learning course

Students from Dr. David Gerlach’s HS-123 Special Topics in History course took part in a service-learning project collecting much-needed school supplies for refugee children from the Syrian War. The donation drive, which was sponsored by the Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies and the Muslim Students Association (MSA), took place from April 25-May 2. Students collected items such as bookbags, pencils, pens, paper and markers to create back packs full of school supplies for children in need. Their original goal — to fill 50 bags — was exceeded by leaps and bounds, and the students provided 127 bags with help from the Saint Peter’s community.
