History professor gives lecture for Black History Month

Yesterday, Dr. John Johnson, Jr. gave a lecture as part of the the Saint Peter’s University celebration of Black History Month. His lecture entitled “Every Ghetto, Every City: Exploring Themes in Black American Music” looked at the way popular music in the 1960s and 70s portrayed life for African Americans living in the ghetto and discussed how one defines that term. The lecture drew a full house in the North Room of the Duncan Family Skyroom. Those interested in learning more with Dr. Johnson, can register for his fall 2019 elective “Black History and the American Novel.”
