Saint Peter’s University appointed Guillermo de Veyga, Ph.D., M.B.A., to the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. This role was established to strengthen operational and financial efficiency and to better align daily operations with the University’s new strategic plan, Igniting the Mission: A Bold Vision and Model for Jesuit Educational Excellence.

In addition to leading efforts related to Igniting the Mission, Dr. de Veyga will oversee major initiatives and supervise the divisions of Enrollment Management, Communications & Marketing, Finance and Administration, Student Enrollment Services and Institutional Research.

Most recently, Dr. de Veyga served as Vice President of Strategic Initiatives and University Relations at William Paterson University. He brings more than two decades of strategic, operational and academic leadership experience to Saint Peter’s. His work spans both the public and the private sectors and he has been a strong advocate of increasing education attainment levels and social mobility indexes. He has implemented initiatives impacting student success and effective financial stewardship and he also has expertise on improving minority access, higher education funding models, and creating accurate and sustainable revenue projections. A big part of his role pertains to business development, grant writing, friendraising and assessing the return on investment of new initiatives, which he has a proven track record of delivering on. Prior to his time in higher education, Guillermo spent several years in private sector construction and property management and planning. He has lived in four different countries and speaks five languages. When he is not at work, Guillermo enjoys traveling with his family and playing every sport he can.
