Career Resources
Students are more likely to have better career outcomes after graduation when they interact with career services and meet with a career coach. Here are some ways in which our STEM Career Coach can support you on your career exploration and development journey:
- Listen to your concerns and answer any questions you may have about careers, resumes, job search etc…
- Administer and interpret a career assessment called the FOCUS2
- Discuss career pathways within chosen major
- Provide templates for and assist in updating your resume, cover letters, personal statements, and more
- Help students build Handshake and LinkedIn profiles to match their resume
- Refer students to other support services and external career resources
- Identify volunteer, service, and research opportunities
- Provide you with tips and a walkthrough of your job/internship search
- Assist pre-med students through the medical school application process
- Give insider tips on the latest job market trends
- Practice interview and networking skills
- Refer students to receive professional attire
Don’t wait until Senior year to meet with career services though! You can take small actionable steps beginning Freshman year. Remember this: an investment in higher education, is an investment in your career – start sooner, than later.
