Discussion with Michael Osgood, former Chief of N.Y.P.D. Special Victims Unit
On October 21, 2020, Michael Osgood, former Chief of N.Y.P.D. Special Victims Unit, led a captivating discussion about his experience in the department, and how it led to consulting on the Law & Order S.V.U. television series. S.V.U. on T.V. vs. S.V.U. in Real Life compared and contrasted the popular television series with the realities of N.Y.P.D.’s Special Victims Unit, and gave students an understanding of the challenges faced by survivors of sexual assault and abuse while facing a culture and navigating a system that often place blame on the victims.
