Last week, cyber security graduate students Mayur Pipaliya and Richard Rivera were called for duty. They were not activated for a physical battle, but for a cyber battle to remove a cyber-attack that was in the form of malicious code that infected the web site system files of B’nai Jacob, Jersey City’s Contemporary Egalitarian Synagogue. The Synagogue Rabbi, Aaron Katz notified Richard Rivera ’17, communicant of the Synagogue, who recruited Mayur Pipaliya ’17 to team-up. Any one searching the website from Google or a web page linking to it, were being hijacked and redirected to drive-by attacks, video websites and advertisements as a result of a malicious script injected into the website.
Congratulations cyber security warriors for a job well done!
