Why Earn a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Saint Peter’s University?

At the dissertation stage, students are encouraged to conduct research that improves the lives of others in the practice of education. This method truly embodies the Saint Peter’s University Jesuit value of being “men and women for others” through our commitment to service, inclusion and academic excellence. Using this lens, students will explore new facets of education and how they can be of service in their organization and community.

  • How does the American political and policy arena impact current educational and societal policy issues, both historically and legally?
  • What roles do diversity, motivation, individual differences, group dynamics, decision-making, cooperation, teamwork, management, professional development and quality improvement programs play in the educational workplace?
  • Where do innovative strategies used in modern society impact leadership in relation to efficacy and institutional change in an educational setting?
  • How do economic principles and national income measures related to public education impact revenue, expenditures, and fiscal problems, including federal, state, and local aid, taxation, planning, debt management, income, investments and cost forecasting.

Unique to Saint Peter’s University is the one-on-one advising that all students enrolled in the Ph.D. program will receive. Upon admission, each student will be assigned a faculty member as an academic advisor who will help them along their journey through courses, research and dissertation, and be a mentor for the student during their time at Saint Peter’s.
