Saint Peter’s University Celebrates Arbor Day with Tree Planting and TREX Bench Dedication

Saint Peter’s University marked Arbor Day with a series of campus events focused on sustainability, reflection and community engagement.

The celebration began with a tree planting and blessing ceremony held behind Saint Peter Hall, bringing together members of the University community to recognize the importance of environmental stewardship and care for the campus landscape.

Following the ceremony, the University dedicated a new TREX bench located in front of Mac Mahon Hall. The bench, made from recycled materials, was awarded after Saint Peter’s University successfully completed the Trex Recycling Challenge by collecting more than 1,000 pounds of soft plastics. This milestone reflects a strong campus-wide commitment to sustainability, with the University already setting its sights on reaching the next 1,000 pounds through continued participation and community involvement.

The events brought together members of the University community in a shared effort to support sustainability on campus, an effort that continues as Saint Peter’s looks ahead to reaching the next 1,000 pounds.
