Raising Awareness for Homelessness and Hunger This November at Saint Peter’s University

Campus community invited to learn about local challenges and ways to make a difference

November marks Homelessness and Hunger Awareness Month, an opportunity to bring attention to two challenges affecting individuals and families throughout Hudson County.

In 2025, more than 1,000 people in Hudson County were experiencing homelessness, while nearly 15 percent of residents experienced food insecurity in 2023. These figures highlight the ongoing challenges faced by members of the surrounding community.

In recognition of the month, the Saint Peter’s University community is invited to stop by an awareness table on Monday, November 9, 2026 12 p.m. in the Mac Mahon Student Center to learn more about how homelessness and food insecurity impact local residents.

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to stop by, connect and discover ways to get involved in raising awareness and making a difference in the community.

Together, we can continue the conversation and help bring greater attention to the needs of our neighbors.
