Saint Peter’s University Earns 2022-2023 Military Friendly® School Designation

Jersey City, N.J. – March 10, 2022 – Saint Peter’s University is proud to announce that it has earned the 2022-2023 Military Friendly® School designation. Military Friendly® is the standard that measures an organization’s commitment, effort and success in creating sustainable and meaningful opportunity for the military community. More than 1,800 schools participated in the 2022-2023 survey with 665 earning special awards for going above the standard. Saint Peter’s earned a silver designation on the list of private universities offering doctorate degrees.

Saint Peter’s has a long history of providing assistance to veterans, services members and their dependents in order to ensure a seamless transition into the civilian academic arena. The University has recently accelerated its efforts to support this population with the hire of Frank Rivera to serve in the inaugural role of director of military and veterans services. Saint Peter’s provides assistance with admissions, academic advisement and registration, student support and advocacy, internal and external referral services and veteran educational counseling and processing. In November 2021, Saint Peter’s was presented with the New Jersey Governor’s “We Value Our Veterans” Academia Award in recognition of the University’s efforts in this area.

“At Saint Peter’s we understand the unique needs of veterans and military personnel and we are dedicated to providing them with the necessary resources to succeed in their educational journeys,” said Rivera. “We are honored to be recognized with the Military Friendly® School designation and we will continue to enrich and expand our efforts to support our veteran and active military students.”

Methodology, criteria and weightings were determined by Viqtory with input from the Military Friendly® Advisory Council of independent leaders in the higher education and military recruitment community. Final ratings were determined by combining the institution’s survey scores with the assessment of the institution’s ability to meet thresholds for Student Retention, Graduation, Job Placement, Loan Repayment, Persistence (Degree Advancement or Transfer) and Loan Default rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans.

“Military Friendly® is committed to transparency and providing consistent data-driven standards in our designation process,” said Kayla Lopez, national director of military partnerships, Military Friendly®. “Our standards provide a benchmark that promotes positive outcomes and support services that better the educational landscape and provide opportunity for the military community. This creates a competitive atmosphere that encourages colleges to evolve and invest in their programs consistently. Schools who achieve awards designation show true commitment in their efforts, going over and above that standard.”

The 2022-2023 Military Friendly® Schools list will be published in the May and October issue of G.I. Jobs magazine and can be found at www.militaryfriendly.com.

The survey questions, methodology, criteria and weighting were developed with the assistance of an independent research firm and an advisory council of educators and employers. The survey is administered for free and is open to all postsecondary schools that wish to participate. Criteria for consideration can be found at militaryfriendly.com.
