Bruce B. Rosenthal, M.B.A, Ph.D., Named KPMG Founding Dean of the School of Business

Jersey City, N.J. – July 14, 2016 – Saint Peter’s University today announced that Bruce B. Rosenthal, M.B.A., Ph.D., has been appointed to the position of KPMG founding dean of the School of Business. Dr. Rosenthal has an impressive track record in both the corporate and higher education sectors, both domestically and internationally, with 35 years of experience as a businessman and entrepreneur, twenty of those years spent living and working in Europe and Asia, as well as over 13 years of experience as an administrator and faculty member in higher education.

“Dr. Rosenthal is an extraordinary educator and businessman whose experiences in the classroom and on Wall Street have prepared him to lead the School of Business to the next level of excellence and success,” said Gerard O’Sullivan, Ph.D., provost and vice president for academic affairs at Saint Peter’s University. “We believe he will play an instrumental role in increasing the competitive profile of our School of Business and we look forward to introducing him to the University.”

In this role, Dr. Rosenthal will provide leadership and strategic direction to enhance education, research and outreach to students, faculty, alumni and external organizations. He will establish the tone and dialogue for the future direction for the School of Business, which encompasses both undergraduate and graduate degree programs in areas including accountancy and business law, business administration, computer and information sciences, economics and finance, and sports management.

He most recently served as the director of the School of Business at Alfred University in Alfred, N.Y. where he established a direction for the school that includes an emphasis on sustainable business and a shift to online modality, allowing for greater geographical reach. Previously, he served as the director and chair of business programs at Chatham University in Pittsburgh as well as the director of the graduate program in pharmaceutical business and director of international programs for the Mayes College of Healthcare Business and Policy at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.

In the corporate sector, Dr. Rosenthal has held roles at a variety of organizations including Dow Jones/Telerate Japan where he served for five years as the senior representative, Merrill Lynch HQ on Wall Street, and Arlington Medical Research, Inc., among others. He is fluent in spoken and written Japanese, with a strong knowledge of Japanese business culture and negotiation techniques. He earned his B.F.A. from Syracuse University, his M.B.A. from Rutgers University and his Ph.D. from the University of Sciences in Philadelphia. He also earned his NASD Series 7 securities broker license.
