Class of 1960 Celebrates 55th Reunion

Group Photo CroppedMore than 60 people gathered at Saint Peter’s University on Sunday, June 14 to celebrate the 55th reunion of the Class of 1960.

“We come back today to share the gift of our journey — especially our college years — and to give thanks for the Jesuits and lay professors who touched our lives,” said Marty Walsh ’60, chair of the Class of 1960 reunion committee.

The reunion began with a moving Mass of Remembrance, which included a special candle lighting ceremony for the 41 classmates who had passed away since the class last gathered for a reunion in June 2010. An additional candle was also lit to honor the deceased classmates who remain unknown at this time.

Following the Mass, attendees enjoyed a celebratory brunch in The DuncanDSC_0732 Family Sky Room where Walsh and Frank Kilkenny ’60 provided thoughtful reflections and presented the class gift to Eugene J. Cornacchia, Ph.D., president of Saint Peter’s University.

As of June 15, $216,316 was raised for the class gift with $95,420 in cash and pledges toward the newly created Class of 1960 Endowed Scholarship. The scholarship will support a student who has financial need, is in good academic standing and is involved in an activity, club, athletic sport or community service.
