Northfield Bank Foundation Gives $10,000 to Saint Peter’s College

Jersey City – A scholarship gift totaling $10,000 from the Northfield Bank Foundation was given to four undergraduate students from Saint Peter’s College. Albert J. Regen ’59, a board member for the Northfield Bank Foundation as well as Northfield Bank, and Patrick E. Scura ’66, also a Northfield Bank board member, presented the gift on November 2, 2009 to Saint Peter’s College President Eugene J. Cornacchia, Ph.D.

The students, who each received a scholarship in the amount of $2,500 include: Sandya Dowlat ’11, a nursing major from South Plainfield, N.J.; Max Ponce ’10, a biology major from Linden, N.J.; Islam Attalla ’12, an accounting major from South River, N.J.; and Diana Jaramillo ’12, from Hillside, N.J., whose major is currently undecided.

In order to receive a scholarship from the Northfield Bank Foundation, students must meet certain criteria. They must demonstrate financial need, as well as academic merit, with at least a 3.0 grade point average.

The mission of the Northfield Bank Foundation is to promote charitable purposes within the communities in which Northfield Bank operates – Staten Island, Brooklyn and Central New Jersey. The Foundation focuses its efforts on projects to support education, health and human services, youth programs, affordable housing and other types of community organizations or civic-minded projects that improve the quality of life.
