Saint Peter’s College Experiences Surge in Undergraduate Applications

Jersey City, NJ – The number of undergraduate applications received by Saint Peter’s College has increased by over 1,000 applications – an increase of more than 25 percent over last year’s application pool.

Experiencing the highest number of applications in Saint Peter’s history, President Eugene J. Cornacchia, Ph.D., noted, "The dedication of our admission counselors, combined with multiple attractive new programs and affordable tuition rates, create an equation for demand from prospective students."

At this point in the enrollment process, Saint Peter’s has accepted approximately 400 more prospective students for the fall 2009 semester than the fall 2008 semester.

“Undergraduate applications have been on a steady rise over the last several years, each year surpassing the previous year’s high water mark,” explained Executive Director of Enrollment Marketing Joe Giglio. “Geographically, increases are across the board.  But we have seen specific increases in applications coming from prospective students in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Connecticut.”

For enrollment for the fall 2008 semester, applications were up 16 percent over the previous year.  This resulted in the College experiencing its highest full time enrollment in eight years for the 2008-2009 academic year.  “The next 10 weeks will be key in building enrollment for class of 2013,” noted Giglio.
