SPC Professor Alain L. Sanders Provides Political Commentary For Wall Street Journal’s First Live Election Coverage

Jersey City – Saint Peter’s College Political Science Professor Alain L. Sanders helped inaugurate the Wall Street Journal’s first-ever live election night webcast on Super Tuesday, February 5, 2008. He was one of several guests who appeared on the program, transmitted over wsj.com, to analyze and comment on the results of the evening’s historic coast-to-coast primary contests. The Journal’s Alan Murray and Jerry Seib hosted the program which aired on wsj.com and its affiliated sites, MarketWatch.com and Barrons.com.

Professor Sanders is a member of the Political Science Department of Saint Peter’s College where he teaches a wide variety of courses on U.S. politics: American Government, The American Presidency, Congress, The American Judicial Process, Constitutional Law, Mass Media and American Politics, and Perspectives on Politics.

Prior to joining the Saint Peter’s College faculty, Professor Sanders was a journalist for 21 years. Working as a senior reporter for TIME Magazine, he wrote stories for every major news section of the magazine, including the Nation, World and Law sections. He was a member of the original writing team for the pioneering, irreverent, humor-in-the-news Chronicles and Notebook sections. He was also a writer for TIME’s early Internet site.

During his career in journalism, Professor Sanders appeared on numerous radio and television talk shows to discuss and analyze political developments. He was a weekly radio commentator on American news developments for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and Australian radio stations 2KY, 4BC and 2NC. He has published a variety of free-lance articles over the years; he continues to publish newspaper op-ed articles on political and legal affairs.

A lawyer, Professor Sanders practiced briefly with a New York City law firm early in his career. He holds an A.B. degree from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs and a J.D. degree from the Columbia University Law School. He was born in Paris, and he is fluent in French.
