Dr. Abbas is a labor and urban economist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics & Finance at Saint Peter’s University. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from the New School for Social Research, where his research explored capital flight’s impact on marginalized communities in cities like Detroit and Cleveland. His recent publication examines the economic history and urban geography of race relations in Detroit. Currently, Dr. Abbas is working on two manuscripts: one challenging game-theoretic models in industrial organization, and another exploring the limitations of mainstream risk premia theories, aiming to contribute new perspectives grounded in classical political economy.
