The Saint Peter’s University chapter of Alpha Sigma Nu held it’s annual induction ceremony on Thursday, February 5, 2026. Founded in 1915, Alpha Sigma Nu is the honor society of Jesuit Colleges and Universities, with a total of 32 member institutions globally (27 of which are in the United States).
Membership in ASN is quite selective, open to juniors, seniors and graduate students who are in the top fifteen percent of their class and show service and loyalty to Jesuit ideals in higher education. No more than four percent of a given class may be offered membership at a given time. This year, Saint Peter’s inducted 18 new student members:

Additionally, WeiDong Zhu, Ph.D., Interim Vice President of Academic Affairs, was inducted as the 2026 honorary inductee of the Saint Peter’s University Chapter of Alpha Sigma Nu. Two current members of ASN, Jesus Morales ’26 and Araceli Amelco ’25, G’27, performed readings during the ceremony.
In his speech, Dr. Zhu called out the three values of Alpha Sigma Nu: scholarship, loyalty and service:
“Scholarship is not about accumulation. It is about formation. It is about learning how to think clearly and care deeply at the same time…Loyalty, in my experience, is the most misunderstood of these three values…My loyalty is rooted in all the beautiful lives I have met on campus: first-generation students like myself; commuter students; students balancing jobs, family obligations, language barriers, and fear that they do not belong…And then there is service, the soul of everything we do. Service, in the Jesuit tradition, is not charity from a distance. It is accompaniment. It is walking with others, not racing ahead. It is listening before acting. It is seeing dignity before deficiency.”
