Saint Peter’s College Announces Major Online Learning Initiatives

Jersey City, N.J. – August 10, 2011 – Saint Peter’s College today announced the offering of two of its academic programs online: a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (for registered nurses only). The College’s traditional undergraduate and graduate programs are thriving and will continue to be offered; however, these new programs will offer the chance for a Saint Peter’s education to those who opt to take advantage of online learning.

“Saint Peter’s online programs are ideal for career-focused students,” said Marylou Yam, Ph.D., provost and vice president for academic affairs at Saint Peter’s College. “They allow motivated individuals who either want to further their current careers or change fields to experience a Jesuit education while still working full time that will advance them professionally.”

The online criminal justice master’s degree program at Saint Peter’s College gives students a choice of concentrations in either Police Administration or Federal Law Enforcement Agency Administration and is based on core principles of ethical leadership, responsible management and constitutional justice. One unique feature of the program is that it includes a business component that enables students to learn how to be organizational leaders in the criminal justice field.

The nursing program in particular extends the College’s commitment to the Jesuit tradition of cura personalis, or “care for the whole person,” a belief that mind, body and spirit can all be enriched through education. This philosophy is instilled through the online curriculum, which is delivered by faculty who are experts in their fields and who are accessible and committed to engaging students in the online learning process. The program is designed to create nurse leaders and the cutting-edge curriculum prepares students for generalist professional practices in a variety of healthcare settings with a focus on leadership, community, health and evidence based practice.

Online courses will begin on October 31, and each term runs for eight weeks. The courses are both asynchronous and synchronous. For more information about enrollment and program guidelines, or to register for an upcoming virtual open house, please visit www.saintpeterscollegeonline.com.
