About
Dr. Megan Callahan Sherman received her MSW and Ph.D. in Social Work from Fordham University. She also holds a Post Master’s Certificate in Education Leadership. Dr. Sherman is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified School Social Worker, Certified Public-School Supervisor and Certified Clinical Social Work Supervisor.
Dr. Sherman comes to Saint Peter’s from Georgian Court University where she was a tenured professor, chairperson of Social Work and Director of the Master of Social Work program. During her tenure at GCU, Dr. Sherman expanded the Bachelor of Social Work program to include partnerships with several community colleges increasing interest in the major as well as overall enrollment. Additionally, Dr. Sherman developed and launched a very successful MSW program at GCU.
As a phenomenologist, Dr. Sherman is very committed to her research efforts. She has published several peer-reviewed journal articles and is the author of two books. The most recent text, “Emotional Readiness for Social Work Practice; A Skills Building Guide has been adopted by several BSW and MSW programs nationally.
