The Ignite Institute Announces Spring Calendar of Events

The Ignite Institute at Saint Peter’s University, in partnership with Rising Tide Capital, is a center for research, programming and student-to-community engagement, working on issues at the intersection of entrepreneurship, business and economic development.

The Ignite Institute at Saint Peter’s University, along with Rising Tide Capital and Starfish Global, will host a workshop titled, “Let’s Put Jersey City on the Map.” The event will serve as a means to help small businesses grow their presence online and on mobile devices. It is part of Google’s Get Your Business Online program, which aims to bring community members, business owners and civic leaders together to help small businesses succeed on the web. The workshop will be bilingual, and will include sessions on making a business more searchable on Google, email marketing, Constant Contact and digital media marketing. It is open to students, faculty, staff, entrepreneurs and the community. Click here to learn more about the event or here to register. Luis De La Hoz, vice president of the Intersect Fund and vice chair of the New Jersey Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Board, will serve as the keynote speaker and workshop providers include Starfish Global, Provident4Women and Social Media Vibes. The event was made possible through the support of The Provident Bank Foundation and SILVERMAN.

 Google Women TechMakers: April 3, 12:00 – 4:00 p.m., McIntyre Conference Center

This annual conference promotes women in technology with seminars, giveaways, workshops and more. The event is co-sponsored by Google Women TechMakers.

Annual Town and Gown Reception: April 25, 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., The Duncan Family Sky Room

The Town & Gown Project is a collaborative program supported by the business department at Saint Peter’s University and the Hudson County Chamber of Commerce. During the semester, students enrolled in a senior business seminar serve as marketing consultants to small business members of the Chamber. The major goal of this initiative is to provide consulting experience to senior business students while also providing marketing insights to small business owners. Students present their projects to the University at this annual event and a panel of judges select a winning group.

Local Entrepreneurs Mother’s Day Pop-Up: May 4, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Local entrepreneurs will be selling jewelry, dolls, natural body products, clothing, food and more. Support our local community and shop small for Mother’s Day. This event is being held in partnership with campus ministry and will showcase Saint Peter’s University student consulting teams.

Export 101: Exporting and International Trade: May 5, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., McIntyre Conference Center

This seminar is targeted for small business and will explore topics such as exporting and international business expansion.

The Local Living Economy Summit: May 12, 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

This all-day summit is focused on economic empowerment, business, entrepreneurship and public policy. Attendees include Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop H ’14, Matthew Stinchcomb, founder and CEO of Etsy.com; and Marcos Vigil, deputy mayor of Jersey City, as well as other public officials.
