Dr. Laura Randall to discuss Mexico-United States relations on Wednesday, March 29th in Guarini Center Lecture Series

“Dr. Randall has written extensively on the economic and political relationship between our two nations in this global economy,” said Dr. Ken Mitchell, a political science professor at Saint Peter’s College and executive director of the Guarini Center. “She will provide insights into the challenges of this evolving relationship.”
Dr. Randall earned her Ph.D. in Economics from Columbia University and a Master’s from the University of Massachusetts. Dr. Randall concentrates her research on the economies of Latin American nations, with a focus on education and the oil markets in the region. She previously served as an economist with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

Dr. Randall is co-chair of the Columbia University Seminar on Brazil. She has authored many books, including the soon to be published Changing Structure of Mexico: Political, Social and Economic Prospects. Other works by Dr. Randall include Factors Affecting Learning and Cost-Effective Schools in Latin America: Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Mexico, The Political Economy of Mexican Oil (1989) and A Comparative Economic History of Latin America: Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and Peru 1500-1914.

Established in 1994 by former New Jersey Congressman Frank Guarini, the Guarini Center aims to provide a non-partisan forum for discussion and analysis of key public policy issues and to encourage careers in public service among today’s students. Members of the general public are invited to attend Dr. Randall’s talk. The lecture begins at 10 a.m. and includes a question and answer session.

Saint Peter’s College is the Jesuit College of New Jersey. Founded in 1872, Saint Peter’s has an enrollment of approximately 3,000 students in undergraduate and graduate programs. The main campus is located in Jersey City.
