Campus Ministry

Campus Ministry Book Club

Are you looking for something to read this break? Campus Ministry is launching a book club to commemorate the beginning of the Year of Mercy.

The book we’ll be reading is: Mercy in the City: How to Feed the Hungry, Give Drink to the Thirsty, Visit the Imprisoned, and Keep Your Day Job.

This short memoir by journalist Kerry Weber, is an authentic, and often funny, look at her own journey with her faith.   As part of this journey, she challenges herself to perform the Works of Mercy during the forty day period of Lent.  She says this book is “for those who feel they are already over-scheduled and too busy, for those who assume that they are not “religious enough” to practice the Works of Mercy, for those who worry that they are alone in their efforts to live an authentic life, Mercy in the City proves that by living as people for others, we learn to connect as people of faith”.

If you’re interested:  we will have the books available before break and then we’ll meet over lunch in January, before the students return, to talk about how we can live out this call to mercy in our own lives and our work.  All are welcome!

Please e-mail Jason Downer  at jdowner@saintpeters.edu to sign-up by December 18th.
