JERSEY CITY, N.J.<\/strong> \u2013 While attending the 9th Teacher Meeting of the \u201cTogether for Michoac\u00e1n Network\u201d in Michoac\u00e1n, Mexico, Saint Peter\u2019s University President Hubert Ben\u00edtez, D.D.S, Ph.D., outlined a broad plan for academic collaboration for higher education institutions in the state under the intent to integrate cultures, countries and students from a global mission with a focus on values.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The proposal includes joint programs, academic and cultural immersion programs, collaborative research, dual degrees, micro-credentials, certifications, diplomas, master’s degrees and doctorates. The model would be designed individually for each institution, based on its demographic profile and specific needs. Dr. Ben\u00edtez argued that while higher education today uncertainty, social crises and polarization, he proposes an education centered on values, justice and critical thinking as the cornerstone for social transformation.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>“Education is the path to change,\u201d he stressed, noting that the responsibility of teachers is not limited to transmitting knowledge, but to forming generations capable of offering solutions on a global platform.<\/p>\n

The 9th Teacher Meeting has brought together more than 13,000 teachers over its lifetime, with participation by more than 60 institutions and a presence in more than 110 municipalities in Michoac\u00e1n.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>This year\u2019s meeting saw over 2,000 registered participants from 18 nationalities, under the motto “Educating in uncertain times, building awareness, hope and resilience.” During the inauguration, the state’s Director of Professions, Carlos Ernesto Garc\u00eda P\u00e9rez, representing the Secretary of Education, Gabriela Molina, highlighted that the meeting has become a state benchmark for teacher training and the building of collaborative networks.<\/p>\n
