Jersey City, NJ – Saint Peter’s College and Seton Hall University are now offering a six-year combined degree program in sociology or psychology and occupational therapy. Marylou Yam, Ph.D., vice president for Academic Affairs for Saint Peter’s College, and Dr. Brian B. Shulman, dean of the School of Health and Medical Sciences for Seton Hall, signed the agreement on Monday, January 12, 2009, on Saint Peter’s Jersey City campus.
Accompanying Dr. Shulman at the signing were Theresa E. Bartolotta, Ph.D., associate dean for Seton Hall’s Division of Health Sciences, and Ruth Segal, Ph.D., chair of Seton Hall’s Department of Occupational Therapy. "This undergraduate-to-graduate degree collaboration reinforces Seton Hall’s and Saint Peter’s commitment to advancing the science and practice of occupational therapy," commented Dean Shulman.
The combined degree program will allow undergraduate students to attain a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology or a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Saint Peter’s College, and a Master of Science degree in occupational therapy from Seton Hall. Students will take courses at Saint Peter’s for three years, followed by three additional years at Seton Hall.
“The program promotes seamless articulation for our students from undergraduate through graduate coursework. The field of occupational therapy offers strong employment opportunities in a variety of healthcare and community settings,” noted Dr. Yam.
