Amato \u201972 and his children, Adrienne McDonald and Timothy Amato, in memory of his wife, Joanne, and her admirable dedication to the profession of nursing, to recognize a student who has demonstrated excellence in his\/her academic achievements in the School of Nursing. <span style=\"color: #0072ce;\"><strong>This year\u2019s recipient is Fernando Murillo<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span>The recipient of the <strong>Berrigan Social Justice Award<\/strong> embodies, both in thought and deed, a vision of life well-articulated by Daniel Berrigan: \u201cDarkness is not all, nor war the last word; not by a long shot. Hope. We pray, make firm, plant deep, justice, peace, now and forever.\u201d <span style=\"color: #0072ce;\"><strong>This year\u2019s recipient is Victoria Skalski.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span>The <strong>Collier Award<\/strong> is presented to a biology major for superior performance as a freshman. This award is given in memory of Marjorie M. Collier, Ph.D., professor emeritus of biology, who exemplified throughout her career dedication to the continued development and advancement of her students. <span style=\"color: #0072ce;\"><strong>The award is presented to Giannamaria Masimillana Guido<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span>The <strong>Criminal Justice Award<\/strong>, sponsored by Hon. Kevin Callahan \u201969, is presented to the criminal justice major who demonstrates academic excellence, service to the community and leadership. <span style=\"color: #0072ce;\"><strong>This year\u2019s award is presented to Andrea Veronica Lombeyda<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span>In <strong>memory of Jasha Green, painter, collagist and sculptor<\/strong>, whose works of art grace the campus of Saint Peter\u2019s University, this award is given to a student whose major or minor degree is in visual arts, graphic arts and\/or fine arts and who not only displays exceptional creativity, but also demonstrates academic excellence. <span style=\"color: #0072ce;\"><strong>This year\u2019s recipient is Maryvit Brigitte Luna<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span>In <strong>memory of Rev. George J. Hilsdorf, S.J., professor emeritus of chemistry<\/strong>, this award is presented to a student in general chemistry who displays outstanding performance in that course and potential in the field of science in general, and chemistry in particular. The award is funded by Charles McCauley, Ph.D., colleague and friend of Fr. Hilsdorf, and is <span style=\"color: #0072ce;\"><strong>awarded this year to Emily Tatiana Delgado<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span>In <strong>memory of Edward V. Mahoney \u201957, a partner in the firm of KPMG<\/strong>, this award is presented to a student who is entering senior year as an accounting major. Selection of the award winner by the members of the Department of Accountancy and Business Law, is based on potential for professional growth in the field of public accountancy, grades in accounting, general average, and participation in extracurricular activities. <span style=\"color: #0072ce;\"><strong>The award is presented to Bruna R. Fidencio<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span>In <strong>memory of Professor John J. McCaffery<\/strong>, adjunct in the Frank J. Guarini School of Business, this award is presented to an evening session senior for excellence in business administration and potential for professional growth. The award, funded by Kearfott-Singer, Professor McCaffery\u2019s family, associates at Kearfott-Singer and Saint Peter\u2019s University, is <span style=\"color: #0072ce;\"><strong>presented this year to Daniel Patrick Ward<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span>In <strong>memory of Rev. Aidan C. McMullen, S.J., professor emeritus of history and former academic dean<\/strong> at Saint Peter\u2019s University, this award is presented to a student in the business law minor program who displays excellence in business law studies and has an overall G.P.A. of no less than 3.0. The award, funded by Lori Ann Buza, J.D., department chair of accountancy and business law and friend of Fr. McMullen, is <span style=\"color: #0072ce;\"><strong>awarded this year to Jesse Bahia Resurreccion<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<div>In <strong>memory of Robert Rigby \u201969, a Saint Peter\u2019s University graduate<\/strong> and a long-time director of public housing in Jersey City, this award is given to urban studies and public policy students who will be performing internships to improve people\u2019s lives in urban areas. This year, the <span style=\"color: #0072ce;\"><strong>award is given to Marissa Elena Morales and Rosemary Walker-Liggins<\/strong><\/span>.<\/div>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span>In <strong>memory of Steven J. Rosen, writer, jazz musician, scholar and faculty member<\/strong> in the Saint Peter\u2019s University English department for 20 years, this award recognizes a talented student whose writing conveys power, commitment, clarity and insight. <span style=\"color: #0072ce;\"><strong>This year\u2019s recipient is Ethan McMillan Mangold<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span>In <strong>memory of Marcos Spinelli,<\/strong> presented through a bequest from his wife, Grace B. Spinelli, this award is presented to a student for achievement in writing. The student\u2019s essay was judged the best entry for the 2020-2021 editions of The Writer\u2019s Edge. The <span style=\"color: #0072ce;\"><strong>award for this year is presented to Eva Marie Cordell<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span>In <strong>memory of Joe Sullivan, reporter for The New York Times<\/strong>, for his commitment to the ideals of free speech and his dedication to New Jersey, this award is given to a student who demonstrates academic excellence and a desire to work in the field of communications. <span style=\"color: #0072ce;\"><strong>This year the recipient is Mark Anthony Rotundo<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span>In<strong> memory of V. Eugene Vivian, Ph.D., renowned conservation and environmental advocate and educator<\/strong>, The Vivian Award recognizes a student who has demonstrated a commitment to conserving and protecting our environment. The Bonato family funds the award to honor Dr. Vivian\u2019s legacy of service. <span style=\"color: #0072ce;\"><strong>This year The Vivian Award is given to Oshane Antoneil Annon<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span>The <strong>Magis Award<\/strong> is established by the Pioneering Women of Saint Peter\u2019s, the women of the Class of 1970. The award is presented to a gender &amp; sexuality <\/span><span>studies minor who has a demonstrated a strong interest in social justice and\/or gender studies. This year, <span style=\"color: #0072ce;\"><strong>The Magis Award is presented to Rebecca Alicia Marcillo-Gomez<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span>The <strong>Collins Building Services Award. <\/strong>Established in 1988, Collins Building Services, Inc. provides the cleaning services for Saint Peter\u2019s University and has initiated this award for a student committed to the practice of sustainability, with a particular interest in recycling. <span style=\"color: #0072ce;\"><strong>This year\u2019s recipient of the Collins Building Services Award for Sustainability is Stephanie Martinez<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>This <strong>Excellence in Business Award<\/strong> <span>is presented to a senior business administration major who has demonstrated outstanding scholarship and citizenship. <span style=\"color: #0072ce;\"><strong>This year\u2019s award is presented to Andrea D. Rosas<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span>This award is given to a student enrolled in the Caulfield School of Education with a minimum GPA of 3.5 and involved in community service. <span style=\"color: #0072ce;\"><strong>This year\u2019s recipient of <strong>The Royster Michaelmas Award for Education<\/strong> is Sulma Vanessa Cordova-Moz<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span>The <strong>Mike McMahon Memorial Award<\/strong> is given to a political science major who demonstrates academic excellence. <span style=\"color: #0072ce;\"><strong>This year\u2019s recipient of The Mike McMahon Memorial Award is Maria Del Cielo Mendez Varillas<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span>The <strong>Surdovel Family Memorial Fund<\/strong> is given to an outstanding student enrolled in the Caulfield School of Education. <span style=\"color: #0072ce;\"><strong>This year\u2019s recipient of The Surdovel Family Memorial Fund is Nazae Janessa Craw<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<div>\n<div>This award, given in <strong>honor of Professor Konstantyn Sawczuk<\/strong>, is presented to the history major, who is enrolled in the history department capstone seminar, and has the highest average in history. <span style=\"color: #0072ce;\"><strong>The award is presented to Elizabeth Marie Hester<\/strong><\/span>.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Dean\u2019s List<\/h3>\n<p>In recognition of academic excellence, students are awarded the Dean\u2019s List if they have earned a term GPA of at least 3.5. To qualify, traditional day students must complete 12 semester credits and SPCS students must complete six credits in at least one eight-week term within the semester (exclusive of Pass\/Fail and developmental courses). Students with any incomplete or in-progress grades are not eligible until all courses are completed.
