The Golden Door International Film Festival was founded in 2010 by Bill Sorvino as a way to provide an equal platform to all filmmakers well known and otherwise. Every year Golden Door hosts a four day festival giving that opportunity to filmmakers, actors and crew to network and shares their work with the public. On the last day of the festival there is a gala celebration to congratulate and celebrate hard work. One of the pillars of Golden Door is to give all filmmakers equal opportunity and treat everyone like a star.

Being very active in Jersey City, Saint Peter’s University is a sponsor of Golden Door International Film Festival. As a sponsor Saint Peter’s hosted multiple film screenings on campus with the actors and filmmakers, Saint Peter’s empowers and encourages upcoming artist to explore their opportunities and show their work. Reyna Dominguez was awarded the Ignite Institute Innovation Fellowship award, funded by the PSEG Foundation, to work with the Film Festival on a variety of event and business tasks, as well as organizing all of the Saint Peter’s film screenings, promotion, event management and volunteer coordination.
