According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (2021), the job outlook for data scientists and those in related fields is projected to increase by 15 percent between 2019 and 2029—a growth rate that is much faster than the average growth rate of four percent for all other occupations.

According to Glassdoor (2021), data scientists have a median base salary of $113,736 per year, one of the highest in the nation. Machine learning engineers have a median salary of $104,837. These salaries are for all individuals—most being master’s degrees prepared. Those with an undergraduate degree are likely to enter this market boom and have a successful career growth.
