The Young Women in Biology Organization Holds Inaugural Event in the Newly Renovated STEM Engagement Center

The Young Women in Biology (YWIB) organization launched its New Jersey chapter by holding the inaugural event at Saint Peter’s University, on May 3 in the newly renovated STEM Engagement Center located in Pope Hall. A group of young women from McNair Academic High School, Union City High School and Plainfield High School got the opportunity to discuss the gender gap and other issues affecting women pursuing careers in STEM fields. They also participated in several hands-on activities with Saint Peter’s faculty designed to further spark their curiosity and provide exposure to various scientific concepts. This event was supported by the SURGE grant.
