Cinthya Munoz Tepan ’21 Meets with New Zealand’s Ministry for Women

Honors senior, Cinthya Munoz Tepan, recently met with Meredith Lawry, Senior Policy Analyst with New Zealand’s Ministry for Women via Zoom. Cinthya and her senior thesis advisor, Dr. Marilu Marcillo, spoke to Ms. Lawry about the Equal Pay Amendment Bill that New Zealand passed. The interview was conducted as part of her senior thesis research, which looks into how female athletes are affected by gender inequality due to the lack of marketing within the world of professional sports, specifically in soccer.

When asked for some remarks given by Ms. Lawry during their meeting, Cinthya said, “A bit of wisdom that Ms. Lawry provided was that she strongly believes that more women should be part of executive boards…. that changes will only occur when women have the power and ability to make decisions that will benefit other women.”

To learn more about Cinthya’s research, or about any of our Honors students’ thesis projects, join us for the Honors Senior Thesis Defenses in spring 2021 (presentation schedule TBA).
