Undergraduate Admission

Fatoumata “Fatima” Drame ’16

“Saint Peter’s really helped me find myself. I came in with a major but really, I was still undecided. Now I can go overseas and help people run a business.”

fatima I chose Saint Peter’s because it was close enough to be far away. By that I mean, far enough to be away from home, but close enough to commute. They gave me a lot of scholarship money so I will graduate with no outstanding loans at all.

I went through several majors – I came in as psychology but I switched to sociology to get into social work. My advisor saw that I was testing the waters and said, why not take a business class? So, I did and I loved it. My favorite class so far is International Management, which is a hybrid class. We worked in groups and picked a country – France – and learned everything about it. We had dialogs in French and learned the business practices of that country. I met lots of people who had a shared interest in France!

I love the idea of travelling. I’ve always wanted to work with the United Nations.
I’ve been to Malie, West Africa which is my parents’ home country. I want to go to Paris and Dubai. I speak Mandingo, I speak some French. I’ve visited the UN at our country’s consulate office.

Right now I’m looking for a job. I don’t want to go straight into my master’s degree. I want some work experience first and then to go back to school. I’m very involved on campus. I’m a PAVO, I’m in the Muslim Students Association, the Commuter Student Association. I also like to read. I like vampire books.

Saint Peter’s really helped me find myself. I came in with a major but really, I was still undecided. Now I can go overseas and help people run a business.

Saint Peter’s gave me my best friends, the group of people I came in with, they are my friends forever. I’m glad I came here.
