Dr. Eugene J. Cornacchia (Elmsford, NY), who has served Saint Peter’s College for 21 years in several different positions, was promoted today to Academic Vice President by College President, James N. Loughran, S.J. Cornacchia has served as Acting Academic Vice President since September after two years as the College’s Academic Dean guiding the school’s undergraduate programs.
The Saint Peter’s College Co-Op Program remains the top of its kind in New Jersey. Nearly 60% of Saint Peter’s students have a co-op or internship during their undergraduate careers. This fall, 150 Saint Peter’s students worked for 94 different companies and earned a combined $525,000.
Three members of the Saint Peter’s College faculty who are members of the St. Cecilia Chorus and Orchestra will join the group in its performance at New York’s famed Carnegie Hall on December 7.
EXHIBIT AT NEW JERSEY HISTORICAL SOCIETY RECOGNIZES SAINT PETER’S COLLEGE INVOLVEMENT IN 9/11/01 RESCUE EFFORTS
The New Jersey Historical Society is currently featuring an exhibit, Changed Lives: New Jersey Remembers September 11, 2001, at its Newark facility. The presentation includes a section on the Saint Peter’s College “Ice Brigade,” a group of Saint Peter’s College students and staff who immediately responded to emergency calls for supplies by delivering pounds of ice to Ground Zero.
The Saint Peter’s College Peace and Justice Committee, along with the Jesuit Community, will sponsor a discussion with Father Raymond Schroth, SJ entitled, “What I Learned About Jesuit Education from Writing the History of Fordham.”
The Center for Personal Development will hold its annual Health Fair on Thursday, October 24 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Roy Irving Theater. The Health Fair is open to all members of the campus community.
The 19th annual Saint Peter’s College Fall Career Fair will be held on Wednesday, October 23 from 9:00 a.m -to-1:00 p.m. in the Roy Irving Theater on the College’s Jersey City campus. More than 25 employers representing the corporate, government and non-profit sectors are scheduled to attend. Saint Peter’s College students and alumni are invited to attend.
Saint Peter’s College Visiting Assistant Professor Alain Sanders, a former Time Magazine senior reporter and lawyer, will moderate a debate between New Jersey’s 5th District Congressional candidates Scott Garrett (R) and Dr. Anne Sumers (D) on Sunday, October 13 at 9:30 a.m. at Temple Israel in Ridgewood.
Otis Smith, a 1960 Olympics double gold medal-winner, will speak at Saint Peter’s College on Friday, October 11 as a guest of Professor Harvey Zucker’s News Writing course. Smith will speak at 12:30 and 2 p.m. in Room 210 of McDermott Hall on the College’s Jersey City campus.
