Saint Peter’s Takes on a New Challenge…500 Donors in 50 Hours

Did you know that if 500 donors each gave $10 to Saint Peter’s University, 10 students could receive textbooks for an entire year?  Add $15 more to that gift, and software could be upgraded for student computer labs throughout campus. And if 500 individuals contributed $50 each to University initiatives, students would be able to receive study abroad travel grants, which offer opportunities to learn within a different culture.

As the spring season approaches this month, the University is launching the “Full Spring Ahead,” campaign, which is the first-ever campaign to acquire 500 donors via gift or pledge in 50 hours. The campaign will begin at noon on Thursday, March 20 and run until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 22. Gifts of any size can make a difference.

This latest campaign follows two years of highly-successful 24-hour campaigns. In 2012, Saint Peter’s ran a campaign to acquire 140 donors in 24 hours in honor of the University’s 140th anniversary. The goal was significantly exceeded with 382 donors who gave a grand total of $90,939. In 2013, the “Let’s Do It Again on May 10,” campaign sought to acquire 424 donors in 24 hours and that goal was also exceeded with 458 donors.

“The overall lesson behind these unique campaigns is that it takes a village,” said Gloria Mercurio, executive director of alumni engagement at Saint Peter’s University. “Regardless of the size of the gift, when our alumni and friends step up to the challenge, tremendous goals can be accomplished. We are heartened by the response from the University community and we hope to continue that momentum with this year’s campaign.”

Help the University keep the momentum going as the University “springs ahead” this season! To be counted, alumni and friends should make their gift or pledge online or over the phone anytime from March 20 at noon to March 22 at 2:00 p.m. For more information and to sign up for a reminder to give, visit www.spmarch20.com.
