Saint Peter’s Named Affordable Choice in NJ According to DOE

Jersey City, N.J. – July 2, 2013 – Saint Peter’s University ranked fourth lowest in net price of all New Jersey private schools according to the Department of Education’s recently released College Affordability and Transparency List. The list – mandated by Congress – focuses on the highest and lowest tuition and net pricing based on data collected during the 2011-2012 academic year.

The University garnered the distinction of being one of the most affordable private colleges in the state based on tuition, fees and average net price – the cost of attendance after considering all grant and scholarship aid—charged to students. With a net cost of $16,614, Saint Peter’s placed higher in affordability than such private institutions as Felician College and Stevens Institute of Technology. Interestingly, the University’s net price was even lower than many public institutions, such as The College of New Jersey, which came in at a net price of $19,576.

The U.S. Department of Education’s College Affordability and Transparency List was introduced in 2011 by the Department of Education, a requirement set by the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008. The lists are compiled from the Integrated Postsecondary Education System data collection cycle – the most recent data that have undergone the full National Center for Education Statistics data review process.
