Saint Peter’s College Launches Unique Initiative with the Hudson County Chamber of Commerce

Jersey City, N.J. – Saint Peter’s College today announced that it has officially launched a strategic initiative with the Hudson County Chamber of Commerce, designed to provide greater opportunities for students and faculty and aid in driving membership and building awareness of the Hudson County Chamber of Commerce.

This initiative involves the collaboration of efforts from members of the Hudson County Chamber of Commerce and the College community.  The ultimate goal of this initiative is to foster new opportunities for faculty and students and expand the Chamber’s capacity to promote Hudson County as a great place to locate and grow a business.

“The Hudson County Chamber of Commerce is filled with successful and distinguished business professionals, and Saint Peter’s College is comprised of nationally recognized faculty members and dedicated students preparing to enter the business world,” said Nicholas A. Chiaravalloti, J.D., executive director of the Guarini Institute for Government and Leadership at Saint Peter’s College. “An initiative between these two organizations seems to be a natural fit. We are looking forward to the future programs with combined efforts from the College, the business administration department and the Chamber. The possibilities for these groups and the greater Hudson County area are limitless.”

Areas of focus for the initiative include membership in the Chamber and a speaker exchange program, as well as combined efforts in marketing research and materials and business plan development. Through this initiative, Saint Peter’s College students will have the opportunity to serve as volunteers at Chamber events and work as interns for Chamber members. They will also be offered discounted admission to Chamber events. Furthermore, Chamber members will be invited to serve as guest lecturers at College affairs and faculty members will be able to share their expertise at Chamber events.

“The Hudson County Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to fostering a vibrant business climate in Hudson County, and Saint Peter’s College is an integral part of this county,” said Maria L. Nieves, president and CEO of the Hudson County Chamber of Commerce. “We believe that by bringing the business and academic sectors together, it will produce far greater results compared to both entities acting separately. Saint Peter’s College has been a long supporter of the Chamber and we hope to continue to seek out opportunities for collaboration that benefit both organizations and the wider Hudson County community.”

A number of events and projects have already been carried out under this initiative over the course of the past month, including joint events between the Chamber and the Guarini Institute for Government and Leadership and Chamber guest lecturers at Saint Peter’s College classes. The Chamber is also collaborating with the College on a white paper for the Research Incubation Consulting Entrepreneurship Program. The success of these ventures thus far sets the stage for successful projects moving forward.
