New President to be installed at Saint Peter’s College

Jersey City – The Board of Trustees of Saint Peter’s College has announced plans for the inauguration of Eugene J. Cornacchia, Ph.D. as the 22nd President on Saturday, October 20, 2007. Delegates from colleges, universities and learned societies around the country are expected to participate in this momentous event at the 135-year old institution. The inauguration will celebrate the new leadership of Dr. Cornacchia and his vision for the future of Saint Peter’s College, the Jesuit College of New Jersey.

A series of pre-inaugural activities are planned for members of the College Community to come together to reflect on the College’s history, to reaffirm its mission, and to recommit to preparing students for learning, leadership and service. Among the scheduled events are an Inaugural Ball, sponsored by the Class of 2009; a presentation on Jesuit history and a Tagliabue lecture; a musical show featuring the McMullen Chorale, Glee Club Alumni/Alumnae, Voices of Praise, and Argus Eyes; a performance by the Hudson Symphony; a celebration to congratulate the Jesuit Jubilarians; an unveiling of the portrait of James N. Loughran, S.J.; a service event with Habitat for Humanity; a special movie night; and a “meet and greet” for adult students.

Saint Peter’s College is the Jesuit College of New Jersey. Founded in 1872, Saint Peter’s has an enrollment of approximately 3,000 students in undergraduate and graduate programs. The main campus is located in Jersey City. The College has a branch campus for adults in Englewood Cliffs and also offers courses at various corporate sites at the Jersey City waterfront and in South Amboy.
