Saint Peter’s Students Help Underprivileged

Saint Peter’s College students have worked with the Jersey City Fire Department for the last five years in helping underprivileged children enjoy Christmas. The JCFD annually gives the College’s Community Service Office $1,500 in donations for the students to purchase and wrap gifts. The gifts are then returned to the JCFD which distributes them. This is not the only program the College’s students participate in during the Holiday season. Students donated small gifts for residents of Jersey City’s St. Joseph’s Home for the Blind who also benefited from a concert by the College’s Chorale/Glee Club. Several campus groups sponsored an annual Christmas Party for the children who reside at Project Home, an affair complete with food, gifts, Santa and his elves. Students also delivered gift packets to political asylum detainees at the Elizabeth DetentionCenter. Finally, a winter coat drive and blood drive were held on campus.
