Dolphin Expert Will Speak At Saint Peter’s College

February 6, 2003– Jersey City, NJ– Dr. Diana Reiss, Curator of Marine Mammals at the Osborn Laboratories, New York Aquarium, will speak about dolphin intellect at Saint Peter’s College on February 18 at Noon. The free event in the Pope Lecture Hall Theater is part of the Charles J. and Anne B. Vickers Lecture Series in the Natural Sciences. Dr. Reiss founded and was director of the marine mammal research program at Marine World Africa USA until 1991. Dr. Reiss has served on the faculty on San Francisco State, Yale and Rutgers University. She is scientific advisor for several organizations including the American Zoo and Aquarium Association’s Animal Welfare Advisory Committee. Her work has also included the rescue and rehabilitation of stranded marine mammals. Dr. Reiss’s work has been published in numerous international scientific journals and book chapters and she has appeared in many television documentaries on animal behavior and communication.
