Four Saint Peter’s College Students to Compete at Target Fitness Challenge Collegiate National Championships

 

April 16, 2002– Four Saint Peter’s College Students to Compete at Target Fitness Challenge Collegiate National Championships

Jersey City, NJ – Four SPC students have qualified to represent Saint Peter ‘s College in the Target Fitness Challenge Collegiate National Championships at the Disney “Wide World of Sports” complex in Orlando, Florida on April 27.

Senior Sue Porter (Doylestown, OH), who captained the MAAC champion women’s basketball team in to the NCAA Tournament, and her sophomore sister Joan will represent the College in the women’s competition. Senior Aarao Santos (Newark, NJ) and sophomore Sergey Ulyanenko (New York, NY) will participate in the men’s competition.

These teams qualified by winning the on-campus Target Fitness Challenge hosted by the College’s intramural department. Only the sixteen colleges and universities with the highest participation rates in their on-campus events were selected to send teams to the national event in Florida.

The four Saint Peter’s competitors will compete in the following events:

Obstacle Course Agility Course (i.e. tires or ropes
Speed Ladders
Cone Weave
Agility Hops
Shuttle Run
Endurance Activity
Endurance Run
Strength Challenge
Team Tug ‘O War
Fitness Assessments
Sit-ups
Push-ups
Standing Long Jump
Endurance Hold

The Target Fitness Challenge was brought to the SPC campus in conjunction with Campus Concepts, a national collegiate marketing firm.
