Jersey City, NJ – Saint Peter’s College senior Steven Llanes (New Milford, NJ) has received a full tuition scholarship for a Master’s in Public Policy from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. He will also receive a $10,000 annual living stipend.

Llanes a political science major at Saint Peter’s and Rhodes Scholarship finalist, has been active in politics and public policy since enrolling at Saint Peter’s. Along with servings as President of the College’s Student Senate, Llanes was one of 27 student nationally selected to the Public Policy and International Affairs Fellowship last summer at the University of Michigan’s Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy. He has also worked with United States Congressman Robert Menendez.

Llanes has received two of Saint Peter’s highest academic honors. He was awarded a Gold Medal for Academic Achievement for ranking highest in his class and named to the Most Noble Order of the Peacock, the school’s top academic honor society.

Kennedy School graduates have headed governments on five continents. In the United States, alumni have held cabinet-level positions and served as senior advisors to every American president since Franklin Roosevelt. Graduates currently serve in both houses of Congress.

Llanes hopes to follow in their footsteps.

“I feel I maximized by college experience at Saint Peter’s,” Llanes said. “I worked hard in school and took advantage of as many out-of-classroom experiences as I possibly could have. I am thrilled that I can go to Harvard, get a Master’s there and gain a big step towards my ultimate goal of being a United States Senator.”
