GEMS Peer Mentor Program

GEMS (Getting Engaged in Mentoring Students) are student mentors who strive to enrich the classroom and help build a community of engaged learners.  GEMS serve as peer mentors, classroom helpers, study group facilitators, liaisons to campus activities and events, and whatever manner deemed appropriate for fostering student engagement and building community.  GEMS are assigned to a specific Freshman Seminar class and attend this course at least once per week.  Their role is to connect to the students, help them prepare for major assignments and exams, and ensure the freshmen have a seamless transition into their college career.
