Dear Juniors and Seniors,

Congratulations! You are entering the homestretch and are well on your way to earning your bachelor’s degree. Can you keep up the pace and cross the finish line to graduation?

Take a moment NOW to measure your progress and increase your chances of academic and career success!

  • Are you on track to graduate? Find out now by answering the following questions.
  • Is your cumulative grade point average 2.0 or higher? Yes    No
    • Yes: Great! You are on track to graduate.
    • No: All students must attain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0. If your overall GPA is below the requirement, see the academic dean for additional courses to help increase your cumulative GPA.
  • Have you declared your major(s)? Yes    No
    • Yes: Great! Review your audit on Spirit Online to ensure all majors and substitutions are reflected on your audit.
    • No: As an upperclassman, you should have already declared your major. You must submit a Major Declaration signed by the department chair to the Enrollment Services Center. To see a list of academic majors, click here.
  • Have you met your major GPA requirement? Yes    No
    • Yes: Great! Review your audit on Spirit Online to ensure that your GPA is above the requirement for your major.
    • No: All students must attain a minimum GPA of 2.0 in each course required by the major. Please note that a minimum major GPA may be required by some programs and will be stated in the “department section” of the catalog. If your GPA is below the minimum required for your major, you must meet with the department chair for additional courses to help increase your major GPA.
  • Have you met with your academic advisor? Yes    No
    • Yes: Great! Your academic/major advisor will help keep you on the right track toward graduation and assist with post-graduation plans.
    • No: In particular, it is important that you meet with your academic advisor prior to registration each semester in order to make sure you are on track to completing your degree in the time-frame you desire. If you do not know who your advisor is, please visit your major department, Enrollment Services, or the Academic Deans’ Office.
  • Are you making sufficient progress within your major to graduate on time? Yes    No
    • Yes: Great! You may also want to consider a minor in a particular discipline. Be sure to discuss this with your academic/major advisor.
    • No: Be sure to discuss this with your academic/major advisor. You may want to consider taking summer courses in order to graduate on time.
  • Have you earned college credits outside of Saint Peter’s College? Yes    No
    • Yes: Be sure to have an official transcript from each institution attended sent to the Academic Deans’ Office at SPC for evaluation.
    • No: You may skip the next question.
  • If yes, have the credits been evaluated for transfer credit? Yes    No
    • Yes: You may want to obtain a copy of the transfer credit evaluation from the Academic Deans’ Office to see how the credits transferred to SPC.
    • No: Be sure to have an official transcript from each institution attended sent to the Academic Deans’ Office at SPC for evaluation.
  • Do you have any holds (e.g. academic, financial)? Yes    No
    • Yes: Visit Spirit Online or Enrollment Services for more information on your hold. As soon as the matter is resolved, the hold will be lifted from your account.
    • No: Great! Your account is in good standing.
  • Will you have an edge on the competition after graduation? Answer the following questions now to find out.
  • Do you have a resume? Is it up-to-date? Yes    No
    • Yes: That’s great. To be sure it meets professional standards, why not have it reviewed by one of the staff members of the Cooperative Education and Internship Program (room 23, Henneberry Hall)
    • No: It might be helpful to develop your resume, even if you are not ready to seek a job or internship. A resume can be helpful by allowing you to examine your accomplishments, achievements, skills and experiences and then determining next steps needed to achieve your professional goals. Help is available in the office of the Cooperative Education & Internship Program (room 23, Henneberry Hall)
  • Have you completed an internship? Yes    No
    • Yes: That’s great. Should you wish to gain additional professional experience, along with internship credit, please visit the Cooperative Education & Internship Program Office in room 23, Henneberry Hall.
    • No: If you are like most students and are attending college to prepare for your professional future, the Cooperative Education & Internship Program (room 23, Henneberry Hall) offers you a variety of services to support your professional development and assist you in locating internship opportunities.
  • Have you explored your study abroad options? Yes    No
    • Yes: Great! International experiences stand out on resumes as well as on employment and graduate school applications. If you studied abroad, be sure to highlight your experience in job interviews. Also, help potential employers remember you by sharing relevant anecdotes about your time overseas.     • No: There is still time! Consider spending the second semester of your junior year overseas. Juniors and seniors may also participate in SPC faculty-led international travel courses. The latter offer an affordable option for students that may be short on time and/or close to graduating. Visit the Center for Global Learning in room 210, Pope Hall, to discover all of your study abroad options! You may also email the director of the Center for information at wgaray@spc.edu.
  • Are you actively engaged in activities that support your career goals? Yes    No
    • Yes: Congratulations on getting a great start towards your professional future. For assistance identifying and taking the next steps, why not visit the Office of Career Services in room 31, Henneberry Hall.
    • No: While your academic program is no doubt occupying a great deal of time, it is important for every students to actively explore careers while in college so that they are adequately prepared for what lies ahead after graduation. Visit the Office of Career Services in room 31, Henneberry Hall, to get started on the path to your professional future.
